You are thinking about putting your home on the market or you have already put your home on the market to sell.  Should you stage your home?

It really depends on the home, but in my humble opinion I don’t think staging a home to sell is worth the price or effort.  I have done a ton of open houses and not once has the way the inside of a home looked swayed someone to purchase a home.  In some rare instances where a home is super luxurious that maybe staging may be beneficial, but for the every day “normal” home, it really is not worth it.  Save your money and do something else. 

I know, I know, I know, a lot of agents and other folks say “stage” your home, but seriously, after doing many, many, many open houses, in my opinion it just doesn’t matter whether you stage your home or not.  If you want your home to sell, clean it up, freshen it up, make sure that the home is odor free, do a little maintenance on the front and back yard, maybe even a fresh coat of paint, and you are ready to go.
